Ten Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

2. Clean up plastic in ‘your’ neighborhood or local park - collect examples to display seven plastic categories, ‘what is recycled and what is not’  Develop take away fact info sheet explaining what is/isn’t recyclable, better choices. Include examples of sustainable vessels (steel and glass)for liquids vs. plastic water bottles.

3. Swap out ‘your’ kitchen and household products. “If You Care” products will be on display (toxic free parchment paper, recycled aluminum foil, compostable bags.

4. Plant a tree. EAC providing saplings and instructions.

5. Native perennials and shrubs. Speak to Trinity’s gardens. Nature that Nurtures doc. Maybe explain the native perennials/shrubs and the benefits of/use of them, how to use organic soil amendments. Provide fact info sheet.

6. Stop using pesticides and chemicals in the garden. Provide a list of substitute examples. Research brands for info sheet.

7. Conserve water. Speak to Trinity’s rain gardens. Display rain garden foam core board explaining rain garden processes. Provide accompanying info.

8. Think about ‘your’ diet and food waste footprint. 1/3 of food we produce every year goes to waste.

9. Think about what ‘you’ wear. Consider sustainable fabrics like bamboo. Be more purposeful about what cloths you buy.

10. Get kids involved. Start veggies seeds for gardens, build a green bean teepee or seeds for a sunflower house. Provide directions. Have a note into our Nursery Director as well. Plan to share ideas back and forth.
