The goal of the mission committee is to reach out to people, communities, and the world to share the good news of Jesus Christ. We strive to put faith into action with our financial resources, time, and abilities to show God’s love and follow Christ’s example by helping to meet the needs of people locally, nationally, and globally.
To this end, we support:
· Caring Cupboard:
Started in 1981, this local mission project currently provides food to approximately 30 families on the third Thursday of every month. Special holiday foods, including hams, turkeys, and chickens, are provided at Christmas and Easter. Many volunteers serve as monthly coordinators, callers, shoppers, packers, and deliverers.
· Mission Honduras:
Begun 12 years ago, Mission Honduras helps to provide medical care as well as safe, clean drinking water to the people in two villages in southwestern Honduras. Known as KHISH, Kurtz Humanitarian Initiative in Southern Honduras, it involves participants from churches in VA, NY, and FL. Yearly mission trips have been made since 2005. Funding is provided to cover the $3,200 cost of a quarterly medical visit by Honduran personnel to the people in Moropocay and Puerto Grande. Trinity partnered with several churches to fund a water improvement project in Puerto Grande several years ago. Three members of Trinity attended a 5-day course in Oxford, Mississippi, sponsored by Living Waters for the World, to assist in the second installation of a water purification system.
